Here’s a graph I drew with USAID data showing the diminishing importance of Turkey as a US military ally. US military aid for Turkey has decreased dramatically towards the end of the Cold War, after the Bosnian War, and in 2003 when Turkey did not allow the US to use Incirlik Airbase for the Iraq War. The two counties’ differences with regards to military strategy in Northern Syria may cause the curve to hit the axis in the years to come…
